Bristol was the first location outside of London that Almero Holdings chose to make its mark. Bristol is a thriving university city, with 22,200 students attending the University of Bristol and a further 28,600 at UWE. This therefore means it was an excellent location for investing in purpose built student accommodation (PBSA).
Our first investment was Tamarillo House in 2014, here we saw a great opportunity to add value to a site on Whiteladies Road, the heart of the student area. We implemented a plan to densify the building and increase bed numbers by creating studio flats and doing a back-block extension.
During this time, we are also presented with the opportunity to acquire another site Stonebridge House this time in the city centre. Here we purchased an office block which had been converted by a close industry partner of ours from B1 use into 33 studio flats and five cluster flats.
In total we operate 121 beds across both properties in Bristol through our dedicated management and leasing team based on site.
